Marketing for MagiciansPosted by howtochangefate in Misc , Magician , General |
Now not every magician wants to get money for what they do. But some do. How to get yourself booked in clubs or anywhere really is quite simple. Show some people who work there some tricks and when your done say something like
" Do you know who i can speak to about hiring me to do some shows here." then hopefully they should go and find someone for you. After every show i have a piece of cardboard that has got a large version of my business card then i flip it over on the other side it says tips please. I have a friend with me who acts like their not with me when i do a show who runs and puts a five pound note or ten.

How to lift a bottle just by using a paper strawPosted by franklin in General , CloseUp , Bar Tricks |
This is not a fool-proof puzzle. You have to put your faith in an untested paper straw. I recommend that you only do this trick over a soft surface so that there is no damage if it doesn't work.
Show your friends an empty bottle and a paper straw. Stand the bottle on the table and then ask if anyone can lift the bottle from the table without touching it with anything except the straw. And it is against your rules (well, this is your puzzle!) to tie the poor defenseless straw round the neck of the bottle.
A few over-confident people may try, then you show them that it is really easy. Well, it is really easy indeed!

Prop Bet: Up and AwayPosted by andrewjspeirs in General , Bar Tricks |
The Game:
It's can't be done" you exclaim. This is sure to get your marks attention. "There is no way it can be done." after saying this a few times the question of what the heck you are talking about is sure to come up. You can't pick up a shot of whiskey without spilling a drop. Your mark is sure to think he can, and the challenge starts. The whiskey is poured, and you go over the rules. You can't spill a drop, I won't push you or anything like that. They will of course say okay. Well why don't you put your money where your mouth is, a bet is made. Who could say no, it sounds so easy.

Grampy's Magic Inspiring StoryPosted by Grampys Magic in General |
Hello All....
I'm a GrandPa with 10 grand children, hence the name.....
I've always been fascinated by magic since I was 5 years old, when I saw my first show at a VFW hall in Kalamazoo, Mich. Growing up I read every book I could find on the subject. Around 10 years old or so I discovered Harry Houdini and he became my hero. Again I read everything I could find on him and his magic. I did my first public performance at age 12 for a senior citizens club my dad used to deliver bakery goods to. My next performance, along with a few friends was for our 8th grade talent show at school.

Secrets To Performing Magic Tricks For BeginnersPosted by Peter in Performance , General |
Many common magic tricks are easy to learn and only require common items such as matchboxes, cloths and coins to perform successfully. The most common tricks are playing card and coin tricks which are both a good way to practice technical and audience distraction skills.
Card tricks are one of the oldest forms of conjuring and perhaps the best introduction to learning magic tricks and performance for beginners. Whilst you can buy special card kits and find free magic tricks online, you should start out with a normal deck of playing cards and learn specific card magic techniques that don't rely on props.
Start small and practice, practice, practice

Hello all,
I'm always fascinated with any magician that uses modern technology with classic magic. I myself have invented an Application for the Android phone called D'Ball. I basically have taken a classic magic trick the D'Lite, which you can find at http://www.dlite.com and I have used modern technology (the Android Phone) to make the trick more exciting and easy to use and wanted to share my video's for it with you. If you would like to see more, go to http://www.magictricks4all.com, thanks!
Enjoy!
