I'm far from a believer, but I do admit there were several outcomes in the first show that shocked me. - Lyons

the_one.jpg Each week The One's psychics will showcase their abilities in a series of studio and location challenges, such as finding a lost child in the bush or getting inside the minds of well-known celebrities.

Seven contestants : mediums, psychics, clairvoyants, a "medical intuitive" and a witch undergo tests to prove their paranormal abilities.

Using the good cop-bad cop formula loved by reality TV, two judges: Richard Saunders, vice-president of the Australian Skeptics, and Stacey Demarco, a practising witch and author decide each week who stays or goes until three contestants are left. The winner will be chosen by a public vote.

Saunders has devoted more than a decade to testing psychic theory and is a member of Australian Skeptics, a group that investigates the paranormal from a scientific viewpoint.

Do we live in a world where psychics can help solve crimes, investigate some of Australia's greatest mysteries or even diagnose illness by mere touch? Prepare yourself for the impossible as THE ONE suspends disbelief and makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

What I did not like
I have watched the above and whilst I do really enjoy the program, I was a little annoyed when the female judge said that she would give Salvatore a chance because he was young. That sounded very ageist. What about an older candidate? The older members in society have paid their way through trials and tribulations, to deny them an equal right is to deny them the chances they deserve. Although Salvatore is good, he should be judged like anyone else.
