Criss Angel - Palm Sight Revealed

Posted by Zuugician in Tutorial , Street Magic , Mentalism

Zuugician

EFFECT: The magician asks a spectator to name the first letter of someone's name who is close to him. The magician then tells the spectator to grab the magician's hand, and to squeeze it tightly as he concentrates on his letter. The magician then instructs the spectator to release his hand. As the spectator stares at the red marks left on the magician's hand, the marks slowly begin to morph into the letter the spectator was thinking of.

Crushing a coin with 2 fingers

Borrow a quarter from a spectator. Next place it between you thumb and first finger. In plain sight of the spectator the whole time, you start to bend the quarter. You bend it so far that the coin is folded in half.

Linking Rings

Posted by MoriVictus in General

MoriVictus
I'm absolutely stunned at the prices most people pay for linking rings; $20 for four steel loops!? Highway robbery. But then it occurred to me how painfully simple it is to make them for yourself. Any craft store of any decent size has steel rings in the leatherworks section (people use them for dream catchers), so all you have to do is buy a little packet of rings, slice a hole through one with a bolt cutter or a pair of heavy wire cutters, give it a bend to widen the gap to where you need it (it's unnoticeable), and file off any nasty edges. For all intents and purposes, they're just as good as any set of stainless steel rings you'd buy at any magic shop (and much better than that aluminium set most starter magicians settle for), and I only spent $4 for a set of four 8" rings and a set of six 4" rings. This may seem like common sense, but I am amazed at the ability of people to overlook the simplest of solutions (hence the fact that we conjurers fool people with relative ease, given a little practice), so I thought I'd share this somewhat common sense revelation so that you can save your coins for palming. Chung Ling Soo (master of linking rings who needs little introduction in a community of magicians) said that part of being a master conjurer is knowing how to make your own trick props. Happy linking, folks.

How do you make the illusion real?

Posted by rhmagic in Misc , Illusion

rhmagic

To me magic is doing something extraordinary with a borrowed object. It's making the impossible possible. Doing the unexpected. Magic is creating the illusions using your imagination.

How do you make the illusion real?

Well, we tell a stories and make the spectator's mind wonder.

David Copperfield Laser Illusion Revealed

Posted by chung in Tutorial , Illusion

chung

Did you ever want to be David Copperfield and cut yourself in half and walk down the street and scare people? Well, now you can at a fraction of the cost. (And time to build the illusion) Give someone a laser pen and ask if they saw the Copperfield special. You did? I can do that. Pick up a board "for protection" and hand someone a laser pen and turn it on. Ask them to slice you across the waist to be careful not to hit anyone else. The laser cuts through you and the board and the audience slowly sees your top half SLIDE OFF OF THE BOTTOM HALF!

Practical Methods and Forty Original Card Experiments

A famous card expert demonstrates tricks that have left theater audiences amazed, and that card-playing professionals have used profitably. It is not a book for beginners. But these shifts, palms, glides, false shuffles, cuts, fans, steals and spectacular deceptions will help those with basic card expertise reach new levels of performance. Over 300 photos show Buckley's exact hand positions during each move.

Pretty good book with a variety of unique card sleights (palming, manipulating cards in the deck, etc.). These sleights are the 'real work', so it will take a little perseverance. Many of these utility sleights are ones that you ought to know if you want to be a card sleight-of-hand worker.

Stage Fright

Posted by rhmagic in Performance

rhmagic

Stage fright is one of the most crippling disorders a magician can face. After all we have to perform in front of people or worse yet, STRANGERS.

As a person who suffers from stage fright, It took me a while to learn how to over come it. I would try every bit of advice someone told me. Of course nothing worked.

I am a people person. I can strike up conversations with just about anyone. I can act silly and let them take me or leave me. Talking to people is not a problem for me.
