One in 52 Card Trick Tutorial

Posted by Maxim888 in Tutorial , CloseUp , Card

Maxim888

This is a simple trick too, but use a little care when you handle the cards. Spread a normal deck of cards face-up on the table. Ask someone to point to any card they want.

Pull their chosen card from the spread deck and drop it on the bottom card. Pick up the deck and give it a couple of cuts. Now spread the deck, face down, and your friends see there is just one card with a different color back. You lift that card out and turn it over - that's right, it is their chosen card!

Torn and Transformed Card Tutorial

Posted by abertzinx in Tutorial , Card

abertzinx

EFFECT:
A card is selected and lost in the pack. The magician then claims he will cause the card to rise to the top of the deck, but he fails. When he turns over the top card, it is NOT the selection, as he said it would be. The magician gets mad, tearing up the top card into four pieces and placing them into a spectator's hand. The magician then looks through the pack for the spectator's card, finding it somewhere in the middle. Flustered, the magician then tries to redeem himself. He holds the selected card in his hands where it CHANGES VISIBLY into the card that was torn just a moment ago!

But wait...if that card is whole and in the magicians’ hand...what card is the spectator holding? The spectator open's his hand to reveal THEIR SELECTED CARD, torn into four pieces! The spectator is then asked to close their hand again over the four pieces, where they RESTORE into a whole card once again!

This is an amazing trick that is guaranteed to get reactions like no other. This version is designed so anyone can do it. No sleight of hand at all, just simple, pure effect. You make a selected card completely vanish from the deck and appear wherever you want it to.

This trick requires you to make up a simple gimmick using two ordinary playing cards. Tape any two cards together as shown in Photo 3.1. NOTE: The front card is cut a little short. The back card (8 of spades) is the card to be forced.

The following is a deck "stack" that must be set up ahead of time and maintained as you handle the deck. Among other things, by peeking at the bottom card, you can tell what the top card is. This allows you to perform many miracles!!

Start by dividing your deck into suits and into numerical order... Ace (top) to King (bottom).

The suits are set up: Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds (CHSD) or you may hear this referred to as "CHaSeD"

The Effect:

David approaches a passer-by and asks that they hold a pack of cards and to merely think of any card that is in the pack.

"Are you thinking of one ?" - "Not the Ace of Spades ! " - "Think of another ."

"OK - got one ? - Yes ? - OK, I want you to visualise your card turning around, can you do that ?"

"What's the name of your card ?"

The spectators announces his 'Thought card' - "The 5 of Diamonds".

David takes the pack from the spectator and removes the deck - fanning the cards face up he comes to one face down card.

"What was your thought card ?" asks David again.

"The 5 of Diamonds" replies the spectator.

The spectator takes the face down card and turns it over - it is the 5 of Diamonds !!

An Insolvable Mystery - Card Trick

This trick, very kindly given to me by Mr. Dai Vernon, the famous card expert, breaks new ground. The effect is that any pack, having been thoroughly shuffled, is placed in the performer's hand, which he holds behind his back, and is then covered with a handkerchief, in which it is securely wrapped. Any number is called by a spectator. The magician names a card. The spectator uncovers the pack, counts to the number and finds there the card called.

The method is subtle. When the pack is covered with a handkerchief, in bringing it to the front, turn the cards face up and sight the top card's index by stretching the fabric a little at that point. Hold the pack with the left forefinger below and the thumb at the index corner, ready for a riffle count. As you ask the spectator to name a number, riffle off five cards. As soon as he calls a number continue the count till you reach it. Bring your right hand over the pack and make the pass at that point under the handkerchief. Turn the deck over, under cover of wrapping it securely and hand it to the spectator. All done in a few seconds.

An uncle taught me this trick when I was young -- it always amuses children, but can be a cool feat of close-up mentalism for any audience.

In this trick, you place a card flat on the back of your palm. Apparently using only the powers of your mind (look mom -- no hands!) you slowly cause the card to bend right before your audiences eyes.
